What’s,”What’s Good?”?

A weekly Sunday newsletter that’s mostly the good and on occasion, the not-so-good.

What’s Good? is a weekly newsletter that arrives in your inbox every Sunday evening (sometimes on the later side) that you can open at a time that’s good for you. The title, “What’s Good?” evolved from this exercise that I use as a means of checking-in and self-evaluating especially when I’m feeling anxious (which, let’s face it is much of the time). I’ll make a list with the words, “What’s good?” written at the top and bullet list out all of the things I am feeling grateful for or at the very least not mad at. And, most of the time, it really helps. With everything we’ve endured within the last year and even prior, I want What’s Good? beyond the writing itself to simply serve as a reminder to check-in with yourself at the sound of the email chime when it graces your inboxes.

I’m Nicole Cohen and I’m a writer and content creator based in Florida. I studied English Literature at NYU and quite recently had the startling realization while laying in bed staring at the ceiling, that that’ll have been three years ago in August. Sheesh. And I haven’t done as much writing as I’d have liked to in that time period. Double sheesh. So What’s Good? was created to serve as a check-in yes, but also as an outlet for informal writing that wasn’t done via Instagram, and not as long-winded as a blog (ok, as my blog). And ultimately, it was also a way to find my way back to the kind of writing I really love to do in a way that is easily accessible and hopefully meaningful and in some way, helpful.

What You Can Expect:

Whether you choose to literally check-in via a “What’s Good?” list or not, reading it should feel a little something like a hug from a friend, operative word being like because, well it’s virtual. But that same warmth and comfort that you get from a hug nonetheless because What’s Good? should also feel like a conversation with friends. What’s Good? was started as a short-form newsletter that should take about five to ten minutes to consume. Think of it as a snack for the soul. It should leave you feeling good and (at least (somewhat) more emotionally) sated for the week ahead.

In as non-toxically positive of a way as possible, and in the spirit of feeling best-post WG? consumption, I want to keep things as light and fun as possible. We’re not strangers to the fact that despite plans, sometimes deviations have to be made hence my address in the tagline “Mostly the good. On occasion, also the not-so-good,” sometimes we may visit the not-so-good if only in an effort to get back to the good. Good or not-so, topically, you can expect to see recommendations from what I’m listening to/watching/buying etc., to interviews with friends and/or people I admire, advice both on the giving and receiving ends, as well as many parenthetical asides (like this one here) and very likely a few animal GIFs scattered throughout (good ones, though, I promise).

I will leave you with this last ~exciting~ tidbit which is, as this project evolves, I will be offering an option for paid subscriptions wherein you’ll get access to exclusive content that I will be cooking up as a nice accompaniment to this weekly Sunday newsletter, which will always be free to anyone with interested eyeballs. I have a rudimentary pay structure that you can peruse at your leisure, and stay tuned for future updates.

Before I go, I really appreciate it if you’ve gotten this far. Secondly, I’d like to say that while I REALLY loathe asking for money for this work, it is (unfortunately) a necessary evil that with your help will allow me to be able to dedicate more time toward working on this project versus investing my time with other paid projects. If either of the paid subscription venues are not for you, I am also on Patreon and sincerely appreciate any amount you can contribute. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds received after the paid options go live will be allocated to various charities and organizations that I try to support regularly and a list of which will be included at the close of every email.

A very many thanks to anyone if you’re still with me,

Nicole
